It will play MP3, MP4, and WMV files, but I suggest downloading a better app than the Samsung/YouTube players built in. I use VLC for video, and Black Player for music. As far as external players are concerned, there is only one port on it, and it's a USB type C. I'm not sure if you can use any type of external player with it. There is a USB C Male/USB female dongle you can purchase separately, but I can't guarantee it'll work without special software or apps.
