Do you have to use the pen, can a styles be used. null

You have to use a Samsung pen. Not any stylus will do.

I have a universal rubber tipped touch screen stylus. Yes. They can be used on the Galaxy Tab S7, but the rubber tip "grips" the tablet's screen a bit too much for my liking. If you are after a smooth user experience, the S Pen, is a much better option.
