You can text directly on the screen as "screen write" or you can use a "keyboard" You also have options to use predictive/personalized short responses and emojis. You can make a call but then you have to go to your phone since it does not have a speaker. Which is fine by me because who wants to look like Dick Tracy talking into their watch or having others hear your conversations...all alerts can be sent to your watch and you can read all incoming emails, texts, FB posts and view pics...you set the ones you want alerts from
