I've been looking at some different smart watches and some of them require that you buy a cell phone plan for the watch itself. Is this the case for the Galaxy Watch Active? null

It does not appear a smartphone is required;however, you will not be able to see missed calls or texts, or anything one may use a phone for on the watch. You would be paying a lot of money for a watch that would only track your steps and count calories. If this is all you want, my opinion would be to buy a pedometer.

Thanks for asking, KKL! This watch is actually a Bluetooth model and only needs to connect to your phone via Bluetooth to function. ^Elizabeth
