I haven't had mine die on me yet, but I doubt it would still show the time because when it's dead, it's dead. I will say that when the battery gets low, though, it will ask if you want to enter a power-saving mode to help make what's left of the battery last longer. I've had to do this a few times until I could charge it, and it helps but it changes everything to black-and-white, turns off wi-fi, and turns off all functions except calls messages and notifications (these functions depend on whether or not you're connected to a phone). I think the screen stays inactive/off until you hit a button to see it too.
