A:AnswerThat is a great question, TD! The GPS models are the Bluetooth version of the Galaxy Watch. You would have to keep you phone with your to use all of the features the watch has to offer. The models listed as unlocked is the LTE version that can receive calls and messages without being connected to a phone. However, you'll first need to activate service for your watch through the same carrier as your mobile phone. Thank you for taking the time to ask this question. ^Kayla
A:AnswerI think one advantage could be you could use a Google Voice phone number to make calls online, without having to have a cellphone plan, just using your router. Of course, in that case, I assume you'd need to download a browser app from Samsung's app store. And you would need to be able to pair your watch with your router so the watch would need to have Bluetooth. Then, you'd have to stay within the range of a router. But having this capability would enable you to get online without having to pay for a data plan through your cellphone. If you already have a router but can't afford a data plan for your phone, this could get you online via a router instead.
But without being able to access a cellphone tower via a cellphone plan with data, you'd have to pair to a router and stay within range.
Also, there may be an advantage with streaming music. Sometimes, for example, I get a stronger internet connection via my home's router versus my cellphone. If I want to be able to stream music or listen to iheart or Spotify without the signal being glitchy, having wifi capability would give me the option to stream over a router versus having to be dependent on the wifi signal of my cellphone.
Another advantage may be in downloading music and photos. Sometimes a direct wifi connection may be advantageous in being able to more quickly download from the internet, versus having to do it by being paired with your phone.
These are just a guess. I've been doing hours of research to try to figure all this out for my husband, for a Christmas present. Lord willing, I'm right about all this, but we'll see, lol. Blessings...
A:AnswerYes. When a call, text, email, notification, etc... goes to your phone, it will also show up on the watch. You can answer calls to your cell phone on the watch. The speaker is actually very good. The watch acts as an extension of your phone. The advantage of the LTE version is that you do not have to have your phone near you or even on to have the watch act as an extension of the phone.
A:AnswerHello russ, good question! This watch is compatible with Samsung Smartphones and Non-Samsung Android Smartphones (Android OS 5.0 and above RAM 1.5GB and above). ^Elizabeth
A:AnswerHello JettaTheHut, thanks for asking! Samsung has Bluetooth and LTE smart watches. The LTE version can receive calls and messages without being connected to a phone and also has Bluetooth connectivity. ^Elizabeth
A:AnswerHello Jackson, great question! Your Samsung smart watch's language, date, and time can only be manually set if the watch is set up as a standalone - in other words, when it's not connected to a phone. When your watch and phone are connected via Bluetooth or the Galaxy Wearable app, the information is generated from the phone's time settings and cannot be set from the watch. ^Elizabeth
A:AnswerHello SJJB, thanks for asking! The LTE version can receive calls and messages without being connected to a phone. This watch also has a GPS sensor that can monitor your real-time location without connecting to a phone. ^Elizabeth
A:AnswerThe watch has a built-in eSIM. All you do is activate and pair it with your cell phone. Upon activation it will have it's own phone number and can independently make phone calls. The service for TMobile is $10/mo. It will also pair with your phone via bluetooth and when you get a call from your cell phone it'll also ring and can talk like Dick Tracy. Using LTE independently the batter will run-down faster. There are apps that you can download and add to the phone. It pairs better with the latest Samsung phones. I use mine with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. You can also use Samsung pay with the watch.
A:AnswerI spent ~100.00 more for the "unlocked" version, so any carrier would work. Currently using AT&T. Works exactly as it should. Also, pairs up easily with my iPhone. No features are missing, which I was a bit concerned about. Never know when trying to "connect" things from Android to iPhone. Works flawlessly... really. Hope that helps.
