“Will the cellular watch work as a bluetooth watch if you don't connect it to your phone service? I'm thinking about getting a watch now but not linking it to my phone right away and would like to use it bluetooth until I do.”

Yes, it will work with Bluetooth. The cellular only comes in if you are not connected to your phone. But if they are always connected it should not be a problem. The stand alone abilities you will not be able to use with no data connection.

I have the watch and I do not have it on my plan. I'm only using it for a watch and a recorder, leave my note 9 in the car.

As far as the non-4G version, which makes phone calls thru your phone via Bluetooth, what were you planning on connecting it to via BlueTooth if not your phone? You can not use the BlueTooth in the watch to make a phone call if you don't connect it to something that can make phone calls. Blue tooth alone cannot make phone calls. I guess you can connect it to your computer via bluetooth to make a phone call, if your computer has wifi calling or has built in 4G, but who wants to lug their computer around to make a phone call?
