Yes. This watch will connect to your phone via Blue Tooth. The watch will need to stay in proximity to your phone. I can move about my house without issue. I have only owned this watch for approx. a month. I have not yet taken the next step to contact my phone carrier to set up the watch LTE to be a stand alone. So far, I really like the watch,

When you are out of Bluetooth range from your phone it uses LTE. however if your provider is Verizon people report that you have to buy the watch from Verizon at full retail price to get one that works with Verizon LTE so you can answer your phone and get text messages on the Watch. I have not been able to get a straight answer to the compatibility of Watches bought from other than Verizon on this issue.

You do need to check if the watch is compatible with your phone provider - call them first and they will let you know. For me, I have a sprint line but obviously, they are with TMobile now. HOWEVER, you still needed to be sure that the watch is SPRINT COMPATIBLE (i.e. not Tmobile compatible). Of course, this still applies to other providers but if you have sprint, know there is an extra step. It took sprint 5 minutes to double-check that the watch was compatible and with BestBuy's awesome grace period to buy their protection plan, I had enough time to check that it was compatible at my phone provider after purchasing at Best Buy and return with enough time to buy the Best Buy warranty protection plan even after I already purchased it. Also, since Best Buy's return policy is pretty generous, you can return the watch if it is not compatible. But I would recommend checking with your provider for the carrier's best advice. So far, I haven't opted to connect my watch to a cellular plan but I am considering it for the future. Definitely LOVE the watch.
