Cometely depends on your current plan. I would reach out to your carrier and ask before buying the lte version, honestly most people would be fine with the Bluetooth version. We have our phones with us all the time anyway

The watcg will pair with your phone via Bluetooth. You do not need service on the watch for it to work. It works even if there is no wifi; it uses yoir phone's connection via Bluetooth.
