It can if you get the version of the watch that is compatible with cel service. I believe Best Buy might have sprint and verizon in store and anything else like t-Mobile you might just have to go buy it straight from them.

The Gear S2 needs to be paired with a smartphone to provide notifications, ATT does have a cellular version however I believe that to only be in the classic variant. Best Regards.
