Could this watch eventually be used on a cellular network? Not sure if that is what I want, but would also like to have the option if available. null

There are 2 versions, one has network capability and the other doesn't. The one I bought can't be used as a stand alone phone. The problem you face is the fact that when you purchase the one capable of being a stand alone phone, needs to be activated at the moment of purchase, just like a phone.

Not *this* one, but there's a 3G version. In my experience, 3G is completely unnecessary. There have been exactly zero times when I haven't had my phone and really wanted to get texts on my watch.

The GearS2 are capable of connecting via 3G.
