The SSD is for sure just a plug in play I’m not sure if it boost performance you will have more space tho and it won’t crash out and that’s good enough for me

It will not help anything other than storage related tasks perform quicker. Based on the specs of your unit, it may just be better to upgrade altogether as all new units have SSD drives in them, faster processing power, and typically 8gb of RAM or more. If you want to have slightly better performance increasing the amount RAM may help but it will also depend on the game.
