“Does this watch count steps and work as a regular watch when phone is turned off? My phone is off during work but I want to be able to use it as watch during these times and hopefully be able to track my steps too.”

Yes it does it work perfectly fine even with phone turned off. You won’t have to worry at work your watch will do everything and more than your phone even with the phone off !
