• adman - If your existing remote is a Samsung Smart remote, it sure can! Samsung's One Remote models will allow you to control devices such as a Samsung Soundbar. ^Gina

• And the answer is... It depends. I have 3 of these sound bars connected to 3 Samsung TVs. On the 2 newer TVs, it works fine with the TV remote I already had. However, on the oldest one (about 5 or 6 years old, I think, can't remember for sure), I have to use the sound bar remote to control the sound. Other than that, I love the sound bars.
