You need a high-quality high bandwidth HDMI cable. Expect to pay $40+ for the cable. The HDMI cable carries not only your video and audio but data to and from the soundbar. Lower quality cables are not "fast" enough to carry the data. This could result in loss of signal to the TV. The longer the cable the more important the bandwidth. I bought the best cable I could find. You might see different names but 4K and 8K usually appear with higher equal better. Depending on how you connect, the soundbar can be the prime device and control the TV (requires a modern Smart TV) or you send your signal to the TV HDMI inputs and then use an optical input to the sound bar. I use both. Sometimes I want to use a computer for input to the TV. I hook my computer to one of the inputs on the TV and the optical cable handles the soundbar. Other wise I have my cable box send signal to my soundbar and use the eAarc HDMI to my TV.

If your TV is not compatible with HDMI, you will need to purchase a digital optical audio cable or use Bluetooth wireless audio technology to pair it with your TV. ^Tim
