“I'm curious... if you choose not to use the sub and rears for a while and just hear the soundbar sometimes, will it work by itself if you don't connect the sub and rears, or does it require connections to those other speakers in order to work at all?”

Hi Newbie! You can certainly use the soundbar without the subwoofer connected, however the subwoofer provides the immersive bass to pair with the exceptional clarity and surround performance of the other speakers. ^Tim
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The sound bar is the main connection point, so you can use it Independant from the sub and rear speakers, however, you will not get the full affect of the system without hooking them all up.
