Hi there MartyF, The rear speakers having roughly a 32 foot maximum range to the Soundbar itself, you should be fine within 18 feet. Test the connection before hand, setup your Soundbar and rears where you want them, then play a movie. This will keep you from running in to issues after mounting them. Keep in mind that any electronic devices such as modems or routers can cause interference with your rear speakers. ~Samsung Solutions
