I previously worked in the mobile department at best buy before so I can tell you this from experience. Basically any 4GLTE device you buy is going to take a sim card because the sim card is what makes it possible. Verizon is the only carrier who's 4GLTE phones are unlocked because they have a global mode. However, sprint phones are linked to their sim so you would have to unlock them (both verizon and sprint are considered CDMA but with 4GLTE they can be used as GSM). I now own this device and I'm using it with at&t with no problems
