When pausing a movie and then resuming plackback there is a display menu at the top that, while the movie is playing, covers the top 15% of the picture for 5-10s before finally automatically disappearing, is there a way to have that menu not appear at all null

Based on my extensive research, no. It's the same banner that appears on most newer Samsung 4K displays. Wish there was an option to remove because it is quite annoying, but unfortunately there is not one at this time.
