My unit has a small light on the right side near the top of the player. This light glows green when the disc is playing, and it glows red when the unit is plugged in but not playing a disc. The light is visible from the front of the player, but it is quite small and somewhat difficult to see if you are not close to the unit. I suspect that Samsung used such a small light because many people find larger lights distracting while trying to watch a movie.
