• You deff need a 4K hdmi cable.

• It sounds as if you have some other issue. I just purchased one and hooked it up to my Denon (non-4K), which is several years old, and it works just fine. All I may suggest is for you to make sure your video out HDMI cable is properly seated from your amp to your TV.
