“I have a home theater system that works just fine. I pick up a Sony 4K DVD and swap them out using the same HDMI Cord to my current amp. All I hear is sound (no video, does my amp have to be upgraded to 4K to carry the video???”

You deff need a 4K hdmi cable.

I just purchased one and hooked it up to my Denon (non-4K), which is several years old, and it works just fine. All I may suggest is for you to make sure your video out HDMI cable is properly seated from your amp to your TV.
