Not sure about formatting it to be "read only", but it does come with encryption software, already installed on the drive, that you can use to password protect your files. Hope that helps.

If your drive goes "read only" you won't be able to erase or modify the documents in any way without damaging the flash drive. Now if you are wanting to store files that you don't want others to access you can use a vault program that will lock a way documents so that others can not modify nor delete anything that's on the drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Surely using Microsoft formatting will allowed you to make anyone file, group of files or all the files as "read only". You then should be able to change that attribute on any one or group of files when you need to. Hope this helps.
