Hi, will this work for extra storage on my Dish Network DVR? My DVR has USB port for this purpose. Am in hopes I just skip the Sandisk password software.

You don't have to enter a password right away. You only have to put a password if you enable the software that is in the folder of the usb drive!

The HD you use has to be formatted to work with the Dish Network console. So I dont think it will.

My son stores movies on it from his computer and our Direct TV.....I would think if he can do it from these components, you could do the same for Dish DVR

There is no password unless you want to password protect certain files.

I had no need of the vault software either, so I just formatted the drive to remove it. The device will still function properly without it. The only thing you need to check is what format your dvr will recognize (NTFS, FAT, etc...) and you can use your computer to format it.
