• It is certainly compatible with a Mac as that is what I use it with, although you might have to reformat the drive according to your purposes. I'm not familiar with the 1080 files other than as a video resolution, but no immediate reason it wouldn't be occurs to me. However, careful research as to your intended purposes is recommended.

• Definitely compatible with Mac, no issues at all with either my 2016 Macbook Pro or 2015 iMac. I don't see any issue with storing video files on it (assuming that you mean 1080p),
