“I have a G tech external hard drive 4 TB, never used, bought in 2019.i need to migrate data from a Drobo 5D hard drive to the G Tech. Can I use the imac as the mode of transfer, by plugging both drives into the imac and moving the files? please advise”

The preferred method for transferring data between two storage devices is to attach them to the same host computer and use whatever method comfortable to transfer.
