If it has SATA connector for then HDD the Yes. 2012 HP should be fine. Comes with SATA cable included.

Please try again later.Your 2012 computer should have a sata cable already connecting your spinning hard-drive - so if you are replacing your spinning hard-drive just use that data cable. If the solid state drive is in addition to your existing drive you will have to purchase an additional sata cable.

And I'd make sure that the extra power you spoke of is the flat, black 15 pin sata power connector or you might want to pick up a 4 pin Molex to sata adaptor. In other words, don't assume. It would absolutely be worth the extra 5 minutes to open that box up and snap a couple photos for the guy on the sales floor you're trying to describe it to.
