Consider the following when purchasing an SSD upgrade. This site below covers the ranges of SSD's and similar types of devices. It covers the advantages and disadvantages of your options. One thing to keep in mind, when I went to Best Buy to pick up my SanDisk Ultra 1TB 3-D SSD, they tried to hand me a SanDisk Ultra II 960GB SSD drive and told me that it was how they are labeling the drives. The read/Write times were not as high as the one I found online. I didn't fall for it so I hope you don't either. Make sure that they give you something that looks exactly like what you have decided on. Also, The 3-D part means that they stack the memory cells on top of one another. This is a newer technology, but allows for more storage in a smaller space. Another thing to keep in mind is that I have had an older tech SSD before, after some number of years and the memory starts to fail, you will begin to see glitches in the operating system and files. The SanDisk SSD however has an application that you can install which allows you to monitor the life and health of the SSD. It is a good idea to install it. But I don't recommend changing any setting that you haven't researched first, TRIM for example can help to improve the performance of the SSD, but could shorten the life of the drive. Bottom line, if you haven't used an SSD before, I will tell you that it will boost performance more that any other upgrade. https://www.anandtech.com/show/9799/best-ssds

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It really Depends on which exact drive you are refering too as well as what you will be using it for. The main feature of this SSD is that it has full write speed across the entire drive. Most SSD's these days use Triple Level Cells (TLC) and have to use part of the drive as Single Level Cells so that you can get good speed for short bursts, usually anywhere from 10GB to 30GB, any file transfers bigger then the SLC emulation size will drop down to the native TLC speed which is usually around 100 to 150MB/s. (most reviews will only show you transfers sizes of about 10GB's just so you won't see the slowdown in their reviews). So you see someone like me who edits large videos needs more then the SLC emulation can provide while gamers & casual users won't be effected; they rarely write files that large, and can take full advantage of the fast read speeds. TLC drives have full speed read over the entire drive if that was not clear.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have only tried this one. It met all expectations. Happy with the purchase. Will likely upgrade another PC soon.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Speed of the SSD's isn't my primary concern, these units are only a few percent different in Read write time. My main concern is power Consumption. So if you only use 1 SSD ,Look at size of storage compared with the price And the Watts - Usually the newer Version of the drive has less than 5% faster times, But power savings can be 10% or so. If you use 2 SSHD's in your system, 2 internal, or I in and 1 on USB , Don't use the Drive with the most power draw as the Drive 0 , Your Operating system and Boot HD should be the lower power rated unit in watts, this is because it is used the most. The Larger power draw HD as a 2nd unit is mainly used as a Storage device.. Whenever you stop using the 2nd drive, It goes into standby and saves battery life. - The Newer SanDisk unit is almost the same in write speed - Only if you have Windows 10 on an i7 would Read & write speeds be the number one concern, And you would have to be using USB 3.0 ports , Not USB 2.0 or 2.0 devises plugged in.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No comparison, the Sans Disks unit is an SSD which is much faster than this traditional style drive but the last time I checked, 4 TB of SSD on one unit would run close to if not over $1000.... this unit can be had for under $100 on sale. If you need faster and want to pay the premium, go for it but if you just need extra storage, this unit is definitely worth. It is pretty fast if you use USB3.
