We laid a towl down on our sofa. Then placed the tv face down and laid the bracket on the tv, lined up with the mounting holes to measure the distance from the bottom of the mount from the bottom of the tv to find the distance from the floor to the space above our basement fireplace.

Then clip the wall bracket on to the TV brackets, and then carefully measure from wall bracket to the bottom edge of the TV. Using a carpentry square can help. Add that distance to the distance off the floor, and you should be close If you mount the TV brackets in the middle of their range when attaching to the TV, you have several inches of adjustability by moving them up or down a few holes. And there are screws on the top of the TV brackets that let you fine tune it more. So if wall bracket is off by an inch or two, you can remount the TV brackets and/or adjust the screws to get it where you want.
