“Could I buy this kit, but use only the rectangular box behind the soundbar? I want to install it in the wall, and wire it using Romex cable run from another outlet. Basically, installed like a normal outlet. This wouldn't violate any code, right?”

Hi Broon, While you can physically use just the rectangular box behind the soundbar and hardwire it with Romex, we don’t recommend it. The SANUS In-Wall Cable Concealer Power Kit is ETL-listed only when installed as a complete kit using the included pre-wired power cable and passthrough system. Modifying it or wiring it like a standard outlet may violate electrical code and void the safety certification. If you're looking for a hardwired solution, we suggest using an in-wall rated junction box and outlet that's designed and approved for direct Romex wiring per your local electrical code.
