“What is the base made out of? I can't find that info on the website. Best Buy said the support brackets are metal. I want something that won't scratch the wood surface of my console. Also, I don't want to have to place it against a wall.”

The base is metal as well but once you put into place the base doesn't move because there is a swivel that the brackets are attached to. Mine is on a wooden cabinet.
