“Once the Arc is attached it appears that it can be moved to a lower position by releasing the handle. How many inches can it be lowered? TV to be mounted over mantle. How much space should there be between the top of mantle and bottom of TV?”

Min 1 inch above and 1 inch below Arc. You may have to adjust the pulldown flexible mechanism so it does not hang at the bottom.
