No, this is NOT an SSD. As noted in the product image and the specifications, it is a standard mechanical hard drive. This is noted in the specifications where the drive has a rotational speed for the internal disk. While this would work for what you need, I would suggest the Samsung 850 or 860 EVO 500gb SSD if you're willing to spend the money. If you're wanting a large SSD, its not cheap. Even the hybrid SSD/HDDs are expensive thanks to their SSD elements.

We did all the necessary troubleshooting (wipe everything and restart, etc.), but nothing worked. I suggested to him we get a new hard drive. Did my research and bought this one. PS4 now runs great, no issues whatsoever, and fairly easy to install.
