Samsung 1TB SSD in Toshiba Satellite Laptop
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I replaced my 1TB Hard Drive with the Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB Solid State Drive on my Toshiba Satellite S55-B5280 Laptop. The laptop had many miles on it but the Hard Drive was working OK. The SSD cloned perfectly from the old HDD. Now when I boot up Windows 10 The laptop is ready for use in seconds rather than 5 minutes it was taking wit the HDD. I also notice that the cooling fan does not have to come on very much compared to when I had the HDD installed. I think I have just increased the life and productive use of my old laptop.

Good Drive
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. The drive is great. The software for transferring the data from the old SSD to the new one not so much. I tried to migrate the data 3 or 4 times using the Samsung software. It always failed after completing 99% of the transfer. I gave up after 4 hours of repeated crashes. The final one corrupted the old drive's boot record, so it wouldn't boot. So I guess I was committed to the upgrade? Always have a viable backup before you change a drive... Famous last words to live by. The only way I could get it to work, was from a backup and restore from the old drive and then to manipulate the partition size to utilized the 1TB size.

One Fast and Reliable SSD
Posted .I had a privilege to test out Samsung's Solid State Drive (SSD) that came with 1TB of storage and I decided to put it into a good use and test it out in two different systems: a PC and PlayStation 4. First of all, it is amazing that storage technology has evolved and advanced so far that the end users are able to store more data as well as make their PCs to run faster and more efficient. I have originally installed 1TB SSD into my all-in-all PC. The installation was pretty easy and involved plugging the cables in the drive and booting up the PC. I used the drive to install a fresh copy of WIndows 10. Installation went pretty quick just because it was a solid state drive and data writes were fast, compared to my regular 3.5" HDD which took a longer time to do the same task (I did a test run on a similar PC). The best part, the boot to Windows desktop took only 5 seconds and Boom! My PC was up and ready to perform tasks. Chrome browser fired up quickly as well as other programs I threw at it like Adobe Photoshop, MovieMaker software, etc. I also ran a couple of read and write tests and transfer rates were sufficient enough running around 400 MBs. This drive used a V-NAND technology which means that Instead of having flash memory cells stacked horizontally, V-NAND technology stacks memory cells vertically. Different types of NAND architectures are more resilient than others and this one should handle about 35000 write cycles. Write cycles, also called program and erase or P/E cycles, are another important metric touching on SSD reliability. This type of SSD is able to endure a finite number of write cycles. In reality it should serve you many years of service. I have also tested this drive in my PlayStation 4 and I was so surprised how quickly my PS4 was able to start up and the game load times were shorter significantly. So I would definitely recommend this drive for any console that offers a hard drive swap. It is definitely worth it! All in all, once you go the SSD route you will never want to switch to the regular old HDD technology. This drive will offer your PC a new life that is worth experiencing.

Samsung - 860 EVO 1TB Internal SATA Solid State
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. So far its been a great addon to my old XPS 8700. I have upgraded just about everything I could for the past few years power supply, graphics card, memory. Windows 10 loads so much faster now and I use it for all my programs and havent had any issues because I dont have a lot of demanding programs anyway and using the old hard drive for storage.

No Issues
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Bought two of these yesterday and set them up in a Raid 0 for my installed games. No issues at all. With them in Raid 0 they blow my Samsung 950 Pro M2 out of the water. I am attaching a photo of the speed of these drives in the Raid configuration

Probably the best SSD option for PS4/PS4 Pro
Posted .So mu grandpa was kind enough to buy me this SSD for my ps4. My OG ps4 had a 500GB 5400rpm drive that was slow and always full. This SSD cut the loading times on anything on the ps4, tremendously. Games load faster and textures load faster/more naturally. Games like GTA 5 made a big difference in almost 40 seconds faster than the stock hard drive! Would recommend it to anyone trying to get the most out of their PS4!

Q: QuestionIs there anything else you need to do once it's installed and computer's turned on? Is it automatically detected and installed, ready to use?
Asked by Home.
- A:Answer If this is a second hard drive in your machine, it will be automatically detected, but you need to use the Windows Disk Manager tool to format the drive. If you are replacing a drive, use Samsung's Data Migration Software (https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/download/tools/) before you remove the old hard drive to transfer all your data to the new drive. You'll need a cable to connect the Samsung SSD to a USB port in order to transfer the data. I found this one on Amazon: "StarTech.com SATA to USB Cable - USB 3.0 to 2.5” SATA III Hard Drive Adapter - External Converter for SSD/HDD Data Transfer" I've used it with two Samsung drives and it worked great.

Q: QuestionWill this Intall/Work in a Dell XPS 8700 Desktop? Are any Additional Parts/Cables, etc needed?
Asked by BenAam.
- A:Answer It should work just fine. The only issue you may run into is that if you want to clone your existing drive to the SSD - you will most likely need a converter cable - USB to SATA. They are somewhere around $7 to $12 on Amazon. This cable will connect and power the drive from a USB port - and you can download the Samsung data transfer utility - install it and clone your current drive to the SSD. Then - with the computer off - replace the old drive with the Samsung SSD. If you want to continue to use the old drive, then you will need a second SATA cable and power connector to connect it. Make sure you set the Samsung to be the first boot drive in CMOS if you wish to do this. Then after installing the SSD (and adding a second SATA data cable for the old drive - it should boot the the Samsung SSD. I always recommend running a chkdsk on the current drive before cloning to the new SSD. It will save time - and frustration of finding that the old drive had issues - and the copy may stop or fail.
