Yes it is compatible. I cannot remember exactly what I did but part of it was to register my product and then I had to choose if I wanted it to be used for both mac and pc or just one or the other. I chose both. I have had no problems backing up my mac files. I was able to do it by simply dragging and dropping folder by folder. No problem. In the course of figuring out how to do it, I did wind up opening something that seemed to indicate I could only copy each file separately and not in their folder. But after I registered the product and choose how I wanted to use the product, I had no problem dragging and dropping all from the "Finder" window. Do it all in one "Finder" window. Good luck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you're trying to do the Time Machine back-up, it needs to be specifically formatted for that. That basically means that you can't have anything else on it when you start formatting it. It should be fine after that, though.
