Does this drive backup system files? Can I do a complete system backup to this drive? Not just music, pictures, documents.

if your hard drive is smaller then 1TB or you haven't used more more than 1TB of space on the hard drive yes, you set up windows backup utility to periodically back up your hard drive

BB Geek said yes, Seagate says NO. After I purchased it I tried to do a iso (mirror image backup), It did not do it I called Seagate and got the bad news from them. It does only media(your files) not system files ect.
As Per the features, Provides ample space for your music, movies and other files. I think this is a little misleading? OTHER FILES very vague
I called WD they highly recommend this 4T,WDBFJK0040HBK-NESN
as a lot of others have. Tec told me that the best they have to do a ISO(mirror image) is to down load Acronis Trueimage from WD Site, it is free, It will do it all. I purchased My Book 4T, and downloaded. Very Pleased with it and the WD My Book. Plus it let me upgrade to pro once it was installed.

Yes. You can use it for Backup. That's why I bought mine. It's just a standard HDD. I didn't even install the software because my Windows wouldn't boot, but the software does have a backup utility.

I have used it for a complete back up of my dads system. He has tons of pics. However, it depends on how much memory you have used on your computer.
