• The Operating system doesn't matter. It can be formatted to work with any system. This comes stock as NTFS so it will work out of the box on windows VISTA. All you need is a USB with enough bus power to drive the HDD. Most on-board USB2/USB3 ports will have enough power but some may not. This can also be solved with a powered USB hub.

• Should be.... its just a USB external drive.. Nothing that would make it incompatible with Vista.
