yes I just transferred my data from windows 7 to windows 10 and before that I had transferred from XP to 7. I THINK all external hard drives for windows are compatible with all window versions.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. You should be able to see the drive on a Windows XP. Copier you data and transfer to windows 10. You can not do this for programs. You will need to reload the programs from scratch. (CD's or downloaded programs)

You can plug it into your Windows XP computer and see if it works, it won't damage it at all. If it allows you to transfer your files from your Windows XP pc, you can then attach to your Windows 10 pc and copy or move your files to it.
