No, this hard drive does not have an internal power supply and is USB-powered.

I had to find a new driver because the one it came would simply not show up anywhere on my computer after I installed it I have a mac.. It was easy to do. I found a youtube video and also went to the seagate website. I think the usb is more up to date than 2.0 but I believe it should be no problem with usb 2.0, but, I am no expert. It is extremely quiet and has a light on the front panel that lights when it is connected to computer. Super small item......Like wallet sized but thinner.
