This drive is designed to run over USB3 for best performance, but it can be used with USB2. It will run considerably slower on USB2. Your question doesn't give any PC specs, so this is the only issue I can think of that might not be optimal. It has its own power adapter, so it is not powered by the computer.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.TO BE HONEST, MY FIRST HARD DRIVE, SAME BRAND AND SAME STORAGE CAPACITY , STILL WORKING, GOING ON 3 OR 4 YEARS AND I DO NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL, I LIKE IT VERY MUCH. DOES WHY I PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE. I WOULD RECOMMENDED.
