• I'm using mine on both my mid 2009 MacBook Pro with USB 2.0 and my Windows 7 system with USB 3.0. It works in both ports.

• Yes, USB 3.0 is 100% backwards compatible with USB2.0

• It comes w/ a USB 3.0 cable which is backward compatible with USB 2.0.

• As stated the connection is a USB 3.0 connection. If you plug the provided cable into your computer and it is only a 2.0 port you will only see 2.0 speeds at the most.

• Yes, the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 use the same plug type. It works on both platforms.
