• No it is not self encrypting. You can use TrueCrypt or some other freely available encryption technology to encrypt it.

• No it is not a self-encrypting drive. I was not able to locate one on the Best Buy website.

• If this were a SED, I believe it would be advertised and perhaps more expensive. My understanding, is that these are plain regular hard drives--albeit small, portable, USB 3.0, and run without separate power cable.
