We would like to let you know you can leave the unit plugged when not in use.

No. I leave unplugged after battery is charged.
Battery stays fully charged. No need to keep plugged in.
I use my vacuum 2x a week.

Hi Sharon. I don't. I unplug the charger. The vacuum will hold the charge until you turn it back on.

The book says always run it down to zero charge to condition the battery to take a full charge which takes ~ 3hours.

I like to drain it dead before plugging it in, always conflicting stories but I believe it prologs its life.

I bought a cheapy on the mega site for backup during charge time.
