“We are looking at the 24 inch drawer microwave. Our opening is 25 7/16" x 17". The 24" drawer microwave will fit. Would we need a trim kit to make it look right?”

I would think you will need to do something to fill extra space. I too had too large of an opening but the depth was not enough. So we added trim board all the way around to get the depth we needed and to fill the vacant space. We were able to match the paint color of our cabinets. I love the drawer!

We were able to match the paint color of our cabinets and are happy with the outcome. Originally the depth we had was not deep enough so by adding the trim it allowed for the extra inch that we needed
