Theory is that HDMI transfers full 1080 picture and audio via the HDMI versus other methods like AV. AV can only broadcast in 720 i believe.. Use the CAT5 if thats what you have wired in your house, but a cat6 is sort of like AV versus HDMI, its all about more mhz in the capabilties, 200 vs 100 in the cat5..noise reduction etc. I do not know now if there is a need for a cat6..because its all about bandwidth through the cable..but try it and see if you get faster transfer using one over the other..
