• You can use it hand held and get great photographs but I do recommend a mono pod because it is a heavy lens with your camera. I did all day sports with it hand held.

• This weighs over 4 lbs. You will need a tripod or monopod to hold it steady. 1 or 2 quick shots you'll be fine but it will get heavy quick.
