Are these senors compatible with the older verson? null

No these are only compatible with the newer version.

As far as my research went, these are not compatible with previous version.

I’ve read in multiple sites that the new version is not backward compatible.

Yes, they are shorter. They will work. I am pretty sure any magnetic pick up would work. All they are, are high powered magnets. Probably neodymium.
