If you dont have an end table, why not? You want them ear level. I sometimes lay them behind couches facing up but not the best way to maximize the quality. They do greatly add to the sound bar. The cords can't be in wall though. Need to be plugged in.

They hide the power cables running to the ground and look nice as well. However, it isn't necessary and is entirely personal preference as it wouldn't effect sound quality at all.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can if you prefer. Mine are on corner table and on top of a curio cab cabinet. no cords are visible and have some floral camouflage in front of them. Does not effect the sound at all,
