I recently purchased the Sonos Arc 5.0.2 channel smart soundbar with Dolby Atmos, and the experience has been fantastic. The sound quality is rich, detailed, and immersive—whether I’m watching movies, listening to music, or gaming. The Dolby Atmos feature really elevates the experience, making it feel like the sound is surrounding me from all directions. I have been a long time Sonos junkie since my first purchaseof a Beam. At first the Beam worked well in my space but after some remodelingand the removal of a wall I needed something with more power. I held off on thePlaybar simply because of the rumors of an update and pre-ordered this SonosArc as soon as it was available.
First the appearance:This thing is beautiful. With a very modern styling, drilled grill wrapped around the internals this thing is the only piece in my room that gives my LG C9 a run for it's money in appearance. This styling fits in line with all the newest Sonos products on the market today. The Arc is also very wide which is why it is recommended for TVs over 50" (pictured with my 65" LG C9)
Weighing in at almost 14 pounds, this soundbar and all its components exude quality. Inside are three tweeters (for higher end sound) and eight woofers for mid-range and bass. What is great and new about this product is that 4 of these drivers aim directly at you while 2 aim out the sides and 2 fire sound upward. This enables Arc to give you sound in all directions, including above you. This addition of upfiring speakers enables the Arc to sound effects for any movies/content coded with Dolby Atmos.
Setup is easy just like other Sonos products (opened the app, add product and the Arc was instantly recognized). After setting it in place I tuned thru TruePlay (a must do in my opinion) to get the room setup and tuned with my Sonos Sub and Play:1 Surround speakers. Even during the tuning I noticed how well the Arc bounced those sounds off the walls to create the left and right front speaker sounds I felt were lacking with the Beam. First movie I fired up was The Rise of Skywalker and sure enough in the opening scene three Tie Fighters buzzed directly over our heads and made my fiance jump.
For this this next portion please make sure to note the difference when talking about the Sonos Arc (not all capitalized) and the HDMI eARC and ARC ports (fully capitalized). This can cause confusion. In order to get lossless Atmos you must make sure you have an Atmos enabled TV with eARC HDMI ports. If your TV only has ARC HDMI you can still get Atmos but it will not be in its full lossless format, it will be compressed Atmos. All this of course is under the assumption that your content is Atmos. You will know it is working if you pull up your Sonos app and click on the room your Arc is in and will see the "Dolby Atmos" symbol listed under the TV. For my setup I have an Apple TV 4K connected to my LG C9, and the Sonos Arc is connected via the eARC HDMI port.
Listening to sound for music, the Arc is a significant upgrade over the Beam but that should be a given based on the size, power, and quantity of speaker differences between the two. While the sound is great I do not know if I would stop using my Play:5 in the same room for just music, only for parties/gatherings in which the surround and bass speakers would help fill the room more.
For my purposes I use Google Assistant and the far field mics caught my voice easily even while sound was playing from the speaker and a medium volume.
While a big jump from the Beam pricing and $100 more than it's predecessor, the Arc delivers. While you can get soundbars for under $150, this one is the cream of the crop and is worth the price tag if you can afford. Sonos's ease of use and seamless streaming technology already shine above a lot of it's competitors but the addition of this new Arc soundbar puts them ahead of everyone else in soundbar tech and makes it the soundbar to beat. The Arc is an outstanding speaker and should be the first choice when wanting to convert just a TV into a a surround system in a medium to large sized room.

The Sonos Arc (5.0.2-Channel Smart Soundbar with Dolby Atmos) stands as my top soundbar choice because it produces exceptional room-filling sound with deep bass and clear dialogue and complete Dolby Atmos immersion that enhances all entertainment content. The Sonos app enables easy setup through a single HDMI connection which also provides automatic integration with my TV remote and smart home controllers. The soundbar's modern design fits perfectly in my living room space and its built-in bass system produces deep notes without needing a separate subwoofer. The premium soundbar delivers exceptional quality and user-friendly operation at its high price point which requires an HDMI ARC/eARC connection on your TV. The Sonos Arc stands as an excellent soundbar solution for anyone seeking a stylish all-in-one device that delivers outstanding performance with simple operation.

The BEST soundbar and worth the wait

I bought my Sonos Arc in August and had to wait 25 days to get it but I love it and it's by far the best soundbar on the market. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
1. Great sound for movies, music, gaming and sports. I've owned top of the line soundbars by other brands but they all had one flaw...they sound bad playing music. The Arc makes music sound full and clean at any volume level. The Arc also makes the vocals on movies sound very clear...other soundbars struggle with that.
2. It's long but also compact but it gets LOUD. I have mine setup in an open area living room with high ceilings and the Arc is able to fill the room with sound. I rarely get the volume level over 50% when watching a movie or streaming music. The overall look on my TV stand is minimalist and blends very nicely.
3. Dolby Atmos lives up to the hype. I stream movies on my Apple TV 4K and you can feel the bubble surround effect from Dolby Atmos content on Apple Movies, Netflix, and Disney Plus.
4. Easy to setup and software updates keep the Arc at peek performance. There is only one wire for power and an HDMI to the TV and then you follow the setup instructions on the Sonos app. I had sound and was good to go in under 10 minutes. A cool bonus is the Arc uses your TV remote to control the volume or you can use the app to control the volume and adjust the settings.
Cons:
1. You need a newer TV with an HDMI ARC input to get Dolby Atmos. If you don't have a TV with that feature I'd suggest getting the Sonos Beam instead and saving some money until you do own a newer TV.
2. The Arc isn't cheap and I'd highly recommend getting the Sonos subwoofer especially for real bass and a much better sound profile for movies and music. For the full theater experience I'd also recommend the Sonos Ones. The upgrades aren't cheap but you can build your system as you get the cash to buy more.
Bottomline...the Arc is the best soundbar out right now in 2020. If you want a great soundbar with a high end sound that you can build around then look no further. When family members come to me asking for tech advice on soundbars...the Arc is what I'll be telling them to buy.

Sonos Arc Ultra SoundBar

The Sonos Arc Ultra is hands down the best soundbar I’ve ever owned! The Dolby Atmos support creates an incredibly immersive experience, making movies, music, and even TV shows sound richer and more dynamic. The clarity of dialogue is excellent, and the deep, room-filling bass eliminates the need for a separate subwoofer (though pairing with a Sonos Sub makes it even better!).
Setup was effortless using the Sonos app, and it integrates seamlessly with my existing Sonos ecosystem. The sleek, minimalist design blends perfectly with my TV setup, and the built-in voice assistants (Alexa & Google Assistant) add a nice touch of convenience. Whether you’re watching an action-packed movie or streaming high-fidelity music, the Arc Ultra delivers stunning sound quality.
If you want a premium soundbar that truly elevates your home entertainment experience, the Sonos Arc Ultra is worth every dollar. Highly recommend!

Dolby Atmos changes the way music and movies sound. Worth the buy for that alone. I paired with the Sonos Sub and two ONE SLs. Once you use their trueplay software it basically balances out your room and it will literally blow your mind as you listen to music and movies that are built for atmos.
A couple of notes:
-To get the most of this bar you will need an Apple TV. Apple TV is one of the only devices that offers lossless playback and Dolby Atmos for music. Not every song is rebuilt for Atmos yet, but there is a good selection. You’ll obviously also need the Apple Music subscription for this. They have playlists that walk you through what it sounds like once Atmos is on.
- If you have an older TV without EARC, you won’t be able to get true Atmos. If you are planning on buying this soundbar I would say the best feature it has is the Atmos. I have an older model so this was an issue for me. I purchased the HD FIRE ARCANA and it has fixed my EARC issue. I am now receiving full Atmos over my normal Arc and it displays this in the Sonos app.
- Disney, Netflix, PRIME and some HBO movies have Atmos. You’ll see it displayed before you play the movie. The only way to truly tell if you’re getting it is if it is displaying it in the Sonos app. You’ll definitely be able to hear it though.

I first purchased the Samsung Q950 to go with my Samsung TV and was deeply disappointed. This Sonos Arc exceeded all of my expectations.
My TV room is not cavernous, so I figured a soundbar would work well and I was tired of the complexity and bulk of my aging A/V receiver. All of the reviews I saw and read recommended either the Samsung or Sonos. The Samsung sounded terrible for the price. I can't understand how it received so many positive reviews.
The Sonos Arc, on the other hand, exceeded all of my expectations.
The sound separation and stage are both great. It's amazing that they can effectively achieve surround sound without rear speakers. Bullets appear to whizz past your ear and background music appears to emanate from behind you. The sound is incredibly lively.
And the bass from this thing is terrific. The low and mid-bass are very balanced. The rumble is there when you want it and not there when you don't. It's full and punchy - so much so that I don't think I will buy the subwoofer. If your room is larger, you may need/want it but for my layout and taste, it's more than enough (and I like me some bass).
There are also a couple of handy features on the app. It has a nighttime mode, which will keep the volume more even and avoid loud peaks like explosions from waking up the house. There's also a speech enhancement mode that will make it easier to hear conversations. I've tried both modes and they work quite well.
Setup was quite easy and uses a smartphone app to calibrate the bar to the room acoustics. It walks you through everything quite clearly and I had no issues.
I'm loving this soundbar and highly recommend it!

The Sonos Arc by far exceeded my expectations. When it comes to sound quality, the Sonos Arc blew me away with it's Dolby Atmos abilities. Movies were rich, full and room filling. There have been a few times where I had to look to my left or my right to see if there was another device playing content from another direction. Normal media content was also a joy to listen to. Video games are enhanced, bass is truly punchy and over the top, but it can also be dialed back within the app. The Arc was also easy to setup. Whether it's music, video games, Dolby Atmos content or even regular content you will not be disappointed when it comes to this soundbar. I'm even debating on adding two Sonos Era 300 speakers to complete the setup. Would highly recommend.

This is a pricey soundbar, but you can’t beat the sound quality. Especially when paired with the other Sonos speakers. It sounds incredible, looks great, and the setup is INCREDIBLY easy. Set it up with the frame tv and it works great. I love the sound and my wife loves the look. It’s a win-win.

This device was recommend to me during a free home theater consultation. The recommendation was the Sonos Arc, the Sonos Sub, and two Sonos One SL's (without Alexa built in).
There are a few reasons I really like the Sonos Arc.
-If you are building a system piece by piece, this is the first piece you will want. It has 11 speakers, rich sound, and fills the room with little effort.
-Dolby Atmos and eARC. I shouldn't need to say more, as someone spending $900 on a soundbar would have done research on these. If you haven't, here ya go: Atmos up-firing speakers, combined with the side-firing stereo speakers and Sonos Trueplay enrich and make the audio experience seem.. surreal. eARC is the best/quickest way to get the sound signature to translate accurately without messing with delay or optical ADAT to HDMI adapter (in box).
-If you don't have an extra $750 to spring for the Sub yet, the Arc provides plenty of depth. The Sub just adds that extra 40-100Hz thickness that a well produced movie can use at the right times.
-The look. My wife and I purchased an extendable wall mount to be able to hide wires and change position as needed. I put it 4-6 inches below the TV as recommended, and this thing floats VERY nicely above the console table we purchased for the area. We had about .25 to .75 inches to spare, which was a bit of a nailbiter lol.
-If you buy into an ecosystem (hello all of us Google and Apple fans), Sonos works with Sonos, and very well at that. You can add and remove speakers to a room effortlessly, tune them to that room, and change EQ and other settings as desired.
-Alexa and Google Home built in. I can now take our main Echo into the upstairs section and use the Sonos Arc as my "action" starter downstairs. For anyone who loves smart home devices, this is a game changer.
Thanks for attending my TED Talk.

Money well spent! The sound is better than expected. The setup - This was super easy to setup. However, with my router there was a setting that I needed to turn on but I could not access my router settings so this took me longer than it should have. It would have taken 10 min instead of the hour it took for me. Most of that time was searching for a lan cable. I connected directly to my router and once that was done it pretty much finished setting it self up in 5min. I found the sound tuning to be fun. That definitely enhanced the sound for the room. Paired the arc with the sub gen 3. I also live in a tiny apt in NYC. So far no neighbor complaints. But I’m also not blasting sound at 1am. I’ll turn it up during reasonable hours when watching movies. The max sound limiter is amazing, I have the limit set to 65%. Which is way more than enough for the small space I’m in. If I do ever need more I can change it in the app in seconds. I have the sub set at -10. Just my preference as it can really rock the apt at loud volumes. Best investment if you prioritize theater quality sound for movies. I haven’t listened to music much on it but it does sound good when I tried it. I use to be a Bose guy, I’m now converted to Sonos. I just can’t say enough at how much I love this thing!!! I’ll definitely be adding more speakers in the future.

I tried 4 different soundbars before settling on the the Arc... the Sony A-5000 solo... which was decent, got loud enough, and the height/atmos effect was present, but didnt give me the crisp clean sound i expect from Sony or have Alexa built-in and for that kinda money, and the idea of spending minimum another $1k for the SW5 and the surrounds with atmos, i was like naaaaah.... then picked up the polk max ax sr...which i figured would have been better than it was... polk command bar i picked up for $25 on craigslist is the only reason i started believing in soundbars in the first place. But the setup was a bit disappointing, the surrounds are simple 3" drivers with 30watt amps so the atmos effect is kinda bogus if ask me, i mean you're polk audio and those are the surrounds for your flagship bar??? So returned that too, then scooped jbl 1300x on sale and ill be honest, for the money, sound quality, the atmos/spatial audio experience... its one of the BEST ive heard... that 12" sub is beast... but their APP is ablsolute TRASH... hopefully its been updated by now but the limits they have on controlling a system as maginificent as that is ridiculous... the sub has 1-5, atmos low-med-hi, and a Fake algorithm for enhancing voices that if you ask me during loud action scenes doesnt seem to do its job well enough for my taste... so alas i took her back too... then i picked up the arc and gen 3 sub on sale... the sound is clean, crisp, powerful, bar has alexa built in, voice enhancement feature, as well as night mode, their app in my opinion is superior to the majority of audio apps out there. The sub has control from -15 to +15, now thats control, no theres no full graphic EQ but there is a control for bass treble atmos. And once i add two era 300s i know my setup will ablaolutely SLAP... if youre looking for a bar, hopehully this helps... hey bestbuy, lemme get that $400 hahahaha

I've had a few soundbars in my time and the Sonos is honestly one of the most immersive and engaging soundbars I have yet to experience.
The center channel is really good and makes hearing dialogue so much easier than the other soundbars and as a 5.0.2 soundbar it can actually play surround sound formats without having to mix it down to stereo.
The sound quality is really amazing. Playing something in atmos has truly been the best experience I've had with any sort of audio equipment so far. The soundstage is nice and wide but you still have a precision to effects and placements and there is a warmth to the sound missing with other speakers.
All in all, it's a fantastic sounding bar especially for an all in one bar. There are a few downsides and negatives tho that aren't directly related to the quality of the sound.
1. The bar is a bit high if you're using it in front of your tv. Obviously the amount of drivers and the quality necessitates the height of the soundbar but depending on the tvs stand design, you might cut off the bottom portion of the image from view.
2. The bar doesn't have any hdmi in ports so in order to truly get the best sound quality from your devices your going to need a tv with eARC. This is a very recent development and only new tvs will generally ahve it and even then it may not be so polished an experience. It would have been nice to have at least one hdmi in port on the bar to replace the eARC port it's connected to on the tv.
3. Unlike other soundbars, the Arc doesn't do any sort of sound upscaling, your only going to get what the original audio signal is. IMO, I don't see this as a problem since it's playing back the content as how it was originally encoded but it would be nice to have the choice to upscale the sound.
4. The biggest issue I see with the ARC is that it doesn't currently support DTS audio at all or multi-channel PCM. The PCM support is supposed it be coming in a firmware update soon (allegedly by the end of November) but the lack of any sort of DTS support may be a deal breaker for those with a lot of blu-ray discs that use the format. I don't see any really reason why both Dolby and DTS can't be supported.
5. Adding the additional speakers and sub is expensive but also increases the performance of the Arc. I currently have the sub also connected with the Arc and you can really tell the differemce in the sound.
Adding the sub allows the speakers in the bar to focus on the other frequencies which makes the audio louder and also a bit clearer. I don't have the surrounds but I imagine it would have a similar effect allowing the bars speakers to fully focus on the overhead and LCR channels. Unfortunately it's going to cost you as much or likely much more than other soundbars that include all of these components together from the start.
The negatives list may seem a bit long but in the face of the absolute quality of the sound on offer, if you can live with it I don't think you'll have any regrets with this purchase.

Look no further for the greatest sound bar experience ever. This Sonos sound bar absolutely blew us away! Sound comes from all directions, and it feels like a surround sound experience. Bonus for individuals who are looking for a variety with the finish options… ***This Sonos sound bar comes in WHITE!*** There is a Sonus installation bar which will allow you to mount directly to a universal TV mount. Of course, you don’t have to mount it to a TV mount, there are several options. Ex: mount to wall, sit on surface, etc. Playing music through the sound bar is so amazing I can’t even think of words to describe. Best purchase EVER!
