This is a WiFi sound system, try looking into a portable Bluetooth speaker instead.

ONLY the Play:5 has "line-input" capability (Connect as well...but it's not a standalone speaker!). You can use either a 1/8" headphone jack cable or get a Bluetooth to 1/8" headphone jack adapter and sync Bluetooth that way. Sonos definitely is NOT Bluetooth capable!

Boost is a small propietary devise that creates it's own dedicated wifi environment. This is to liberate the traffic from the existing wifi network and increase performance.You can ask if it can be set with out a router.

There is a port in the back of the SONOS to which you might be able to connect a device that has your music and use for playing. Otherwise, a simple router (not MoDem-router) might work. I would check with BestBuy, and/or call SONOS Tech Support.

For not much money, you can buy a Bluetooth receiver that plugs into the auxiliary input on the back of the speakers. Then you can connect through the Bluetooth on your phone.

You can buty a Bluetooth adapter and plug in thru the 3.5 mm headphone jack and use Bluetooth that way but i believe you still have to have wifi

You do not need to buy anything if you are using a phone that has Bluetooth. Think of driving your car and connecting your phone directly to your car - there is no router or wifi in your car. This unit works the same way.

You do not need a router to be able to connect via Bluetooth. Your phone should have it built in (think of driving and connecting your phone to your car - there is no router there either). I have an I-phone 5 and 6 and both connect with no issues.
