In my opinion no. You really need to add the subwoofer to it to get the really good sound. You could always try it and see what you think, and add the subwoofer later.

I have a soundbar on my patio with no subwoofer and it is acceptable. But in the two rooms where I have TVs set up for watching/listening to music, I have a subwoofer.

I can't really say about the bass but my husband can hear sounds he couldn't hear before! I would highly recommend this.

Yes. You don’t need the sub at all unless you want that extra kick.

Yes the sound bar has good base but I would pair it with the sub to get the overall better experience. I bought both of them and absolutely love them paired together.
